How to send a signal from the Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder into the make.tv studio

Different audio and video sources, video clips, local webcams or streaming signals from other live sources can be connected to make.tv either directly, through a mixer (ie. Wirecast etc.) or via an online/hardware encoder (ie. Flash Media Live Encoder, Teradek Cube, LiveU etc.).

There is no limit on how many inputs you send or use in the make.tv Studio.

This step by step guide will show you how to send an input via Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder into the make.tv studio.

1. Open the Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder on your operating system.

2. Once the client started. Please make sure to activate your audio and video input within the client and make your desired configurations.

Please note:

DO NOT USE the “Degrade Quality” feature under Advanced Settings in FME. This can affect problems with the recording of your stream on the server. Instead, use the “Drop Frames” option, which will not affect the recording.

You can also use your [channelname], e-mail address and password to connect FME to your make.tv Studio. Just replace everything after “.../stream/” with your channel name, e-mail address and password. It will look like this:
.../stream/channel_name/my@email.com/mypassword

3. To connect the Flash Media Live Encoder with your make.tv Studio please open your studio and click on the "add Stream" button.

4. Please copy your individual RTMP-URL & Stream name out of this window.

5. Paste this information into the Flash Media Live Encoder.

Please note:
If you want to broadcast from a location where a firewall is blocking all outgoing traffic to destination port “1935”, you can change the protocol in the URL from “rtmp://” to "rtmpt://" and manually select the destination port “80” by adding “:80” after the top-level domain. Your URL will then look like this:
rtmpt://encoding0X.make.tv:80/...
If you want to duplicate your stream server side, and stream to additional channels, simply add “/COPY/[HASH-STRING-FROM-OTHER-CHANNEL]” to the URL above. Your URL should then look like this:
rtmp://encoding0X.make.tv/stream/[FIRST-HASH-STRING]/COPY/[SECOND-HASH-STRING](/COPY/[OTHER-HASH-STRING])

Using this formula, you can duplicate your stream to all the channels you have access to.

6. Once this information are provided to the Flash Media Live Encoder you can simply click on "Connect" and then on "Start"

7. After following these steps you should have a new incoming stream in your studio.
